Once you are logged into MSN Messenger or Windows Live Messenger open up a MSN Messenger instant message conversation and click on the emoticon button or "My Emoticons" on the toolbar. Select the first "more" link"

Select the emoticon that you wish to insert, and remember its shortcut key in this instance it is "\aae0" - in the future you will be able to use this shortcut key to insert MSN emoticons into MSN Messenger more easily if you remember this shortcut. Press "OK"
